Thymes Review & Giveaway

Winter here in NC (as well as most of the nation) has been cold. We all know what cold weather does to our skin. If you're like me, you have a large array of potions & lotions in your bathroom cabinet, most used only once or twice simply because they don't work, they're too greasy, you don't like the smell or something equally annoying.  Waste lotions no more! I have found a new favorite~ Thymes.

Thymes was kind enough to send me a few of their lotions and soaps to try out. Looking at their website, I was overwhelmed at first trying to pick out a scent. The visual bubbles helped a little bit but once I read all the descriptions, I was able to narrow down the scents I thought I would like. I'm the type of person who will smell every candle, bubble bath, shampoo, shave gel, laundry soap, even baby wipes! before I buy something so I was nervous when I sent them my scent choices.

For the visual learners, they have these with the scent descriptions to help you choose which ones you may like.

When my package arrived on my doorstep, I was excited to see what they sent me & how well I did scent picking. I received a Mandarin Coriander Sink Set, a Thymes Essentials AHA Body Lotion and a Travel Size Azur Body Lotion. I liked each of the scents right away & was quite happy with myself for doing such a good job.

What I received from Thymes.

The sink set is very nice. It would make a great hostess or housewarming gift. The only problem with the sink set is that I can't decide where I want to keep it. :-) It's beautiful in the guest bathroom, a nice treat in the kitchen and perfect for the master bath as well since my husband likes the scent & didn't claim it was to "foofoo" for him.

The lotions have the right amount of scent, not to light and not too overpowering. They're not greasy either, they are easily absorbed in the skin & I didn't have to wash my hands after using them (greasy is one of my biggest complaints about lotions). I like the Essentials AHA Body Lotion after a shower- it keeps my skin soft for a long time. The Azur lotion reminds me of the beach each time I use it. I like using it in the morning & I catch little whiffs of it throughout the day.  You know the whole scent/ memory connection right? Well, the beach is a happy place for me and the Azur lotion instantly brings me back to those happy moments.

Thymes does not test their products on animals and they don't use parabens, petrolatum or propylene glycol or many other items that can irritate your skin.  Hmmm- perhaps that's why it doesn't feel greasy?

You can also shop online. Don't be afraid, the Thymes Fragrance Studio does an excellent job in steering you to a fragrance you will like- even if you're a sniffer like me. As an added bonus, they include free samples with every order. The standard ground shipping is $6.95 regardless of the order size. That's nice because you know how heavy lotions & soaps can get!

Whole Foods--> North Raleigh Store Grand Opening & Giveaway

I had the privilege of attending my first Media Day today for the upcoming Grand Opening of Whole Foods in North Raleigh.  We were treated to a tour of the new store and lunch afterwards.

With over 300 stores nationwide, you should check if a Whole Foods is close to you & go visit!   Don't forget about Whole Foods coupons.   Whole Foods is a new store for me simply because there is not one close enough for me to visit but that will change once this store opens on Wednesday 3/16!

Huge Meat Counter



I was very interested to learn about all the green steps the store has taken including an above ground cistern that will provide water for the floral departments and toilets, reclaimed barn wood throughout the store (it's gorgeous!), reclaimed wood pallets and more.  There are many other earth saving steps inside the store such as package free items, bulk offerings, biodegradable food packaging and more. Bring in your reusable grocery bags when you shop for a 10 cent per bag discount.



Bulk Spices



 The North Raleigh store is over 40,000 sf and offers an expanded section over the Downtown Raleigh store. If you need any help you could of course go to the customer service desk but you have another option here- stop by the help kiosk.  It will be staffed with a knowledgeable store associate to help you with anything you need.

Large Beer Coolers

There's something around every corner and for everyone in the family.  For example, there are frozen baby food and pet food options in each of their departments, talk about easy shopping!  Like salsa? How about fresh from the salsa and guacamole bar?  Would 16 flavors of gelato get you drooling?  Can you choose a favorite from over 400 different cheeses or 600 wines? And yes, they offer a list of suggested parings if you need help!  Do you know someone who likes craft beers?  A home brew kit would be the perfect gift.  There's a large hot food bar, salad bar, olive bar and soup bar (with 8 soups!), rotisserie chicken, sushi, pizza and more if you need a quick bite.  The bakery is already busy making desserts including vegan cakes and with two big windows in the bakery, you can sit in the café and watch the bakers do their magic.  



Another thing I liked about Whole Foods?  Their community involvement both in and out of the store.  Inside they offer classes such as Cooking Raleigh (get to know your kitchen, different ingredients, recipes and more) and Value Tours (Learn all about the store and how to get the best deals) more info about these classes and others will be on their website soon.  Outside the store they offer community partnerships and other programs to give back.

They are also kid friendly! They have kid size shopping carts for your little helpers, high chairs for the cafe and  check with the store for Earth Day events for the little ones!

  

Large Health & Beauty area



The new store will open at 8710 Six Forks Road in North Raleigh on Wednesday March 16th at 9 am.  Opening festivities begin at 7:30 am with FREE breakfast followed by a bread breaking ceremony at 8:30 am.  Store hours will be 7 am - 10 pm 7 days a week.

I was selected by COFFEE-MATE® to host a Café Party today for FREE FLAVOR FRIDAY. 

I'm not a straight hot coffee drinker but I like iced coffee and specialty coffee drinks.   Flavors like white chocolate caramel latte, french vanilla, irish crème, and creamy chocolate (Can you tell what kind of drinks I like now? LOL) make it easy (and thrifty!) to make drinks at home instead of paying $5 at a fancy coffee shop.

One of my favorite recipes is to mix about 1/3 cup coffee, 2/3 cup milk, a packet of hot chocolate mix & your choice of flavored Coffee-mate to taste.  Mix well & serve over ice. You could even blend it in a mixer if you'd like. YUM!

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that there are many recipes using Coffee-mate on their website... including desserts!

 

As far as my party- well, there wasn't one unless you count my neighbor & I sampling different flavors while our kids played together.  Most of my guests were unable to attend because of a nasty bug that is going around and the weather was yucky here today.  :(  So... I'm going to give away a coupon for a free bottle of Coffee-mate to 8 of my readers!  As an added bonus I will include a few extra coupons from the Sunday inserts for you.
